“And Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’” ~ John 1:46
Nothing screams a terrible past more than Pastor Goke’s life story. Truly, many would have asked the same question Nathanael asked Philip: Can anything good come out of this life?
This is a man who, by the age of eight, was already deeply entangled in pornography and masturbation, gradually progressing in depravity as he got older. From those to prostitution and multiple girlfriends, excessive alcohol and hard drugs, the vices just layered on.
As we know, sin grows in stages and levels, and unless the Lord Himself intervenes, its roots only deepen further in the life of an individual.
That was the story of Pastor Goke; a man fully consumed by these vices, until the Lord encountered him.
His testimony is living proof that something good can come out of a life that many have written off.
Many of us might carry a past too shameful to speak about. Has the enemy ever told you, “You’re not good enough” or “God can never forgive you”? Is the enemy using guilt to keep you away from God?
Well, that’s a lie, there is no one beyond redemption.
God redeemed Pastor Goke, and He will do the same for you too.
Key points to note from this testimony:
- Be careful who surrounds your children and teenagers; peer pressure is powerful.
- Don’t ignore the red flags; what starts as “just fun” can very quickly become bondage.
- Sin always takes more than it gives, but Jesus restores what sin tries to destroy.
- Don’t reject correction; it could be your rescue line.
- Deliverance takes more than one prayer, it takes a lifestyle of consistency.
- Consistency in prayer and fasting is a guaranteed pathway to healing.
For those of us who have found faith, we mustn’t remain infants in it. The devil works overtime to destroy us and keep us in that destroyed state.
We must stay grounded in the Word, with prayer and fasting. They must become our lifestyle to enable us to grow in the Spirit.
God has deposited His Holy Spirit in us to do more than speak in tongues. He can do much more through you than you think. Seek His guidance and counsel in all things and tarry in Him, so you are infilled with power.
The life we’ve found in Christ is priceless. Let’s stay the course, walking with God consistently, so we don’t fall back into our old ways. Look back to remember, look forward with purpose – eternity is too precious to miss.
And if you’re still searching or feel far from God, know this: redemption is not for a select few – it’s for everyone. No one is beyond God’s reach. Whether you’re holding on or hoping to begin again, His grace is wide enough to meet you right where you are.
It doesn’t matter what kind of past you’ve had, there is One who knows your past and still loves you regardless.
His name is Jesus, and He is calling out to you today!
