Bearers of Light 2 | Beyond the Cross

Resurrection Sunday reminded us that the cross was not the end of the story – it was the beginning. Jesus didn’t just die to save us; He rose to reposition us. In this powerful service, we explored what it means to carry His light with the right heart and to live from the victory secured beyond the cross.

This past Sunday – Resurrection Sunday – did not feel like an ordinary service.

From the very beginning, it was clear that we were not just gathered – we were remembering, reliving, and responding to the greatest victory in history.

Every moment echoed one truth: Jesus is risen.

From the hymns to the readings, from the atmosphere to the Word, everything pointed back to the cross – and more importantly, to the empty tomb. Because the story did not end at sacrifice. It culminated in resurrection.

The stone was rolled away. The grave was conquered. And in that moment, eternity shifted.

Even more, Scripture records that others rose with Him – an undeniable testimony that death had truly been defeated, and that all who are in Him will share in that same resurrection life.

But what does that mean for us now?

That question led us into two powerful ministrations that shaped the heart of the service.

Bearers of Light (Part 2): The Heart Behind the Light

Min. Elijah Solomon brought a continuation of last week’s message – Bearers of Light – and brought us straight to the foundation:

Before you can walk with God, two things must be in place:

  • A heart for God
  • An altar with God

And this week, the focus narrowed sharply on the heart.

  • “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7)
  • “I, the Lord, search the heart…” (Jeremiah 17:10)

God does not evaluate by what is visible. He weighs what is within.

The heart is cross-dimensional – it is revealed in how we relate to God and how we relate to men. And the state of that heart determines our standing in the things of God.

In Acts 8:19-21, Simon desired spiritual power, but Peter rebuked him – not because of his request, but because his heart was not right. The implication is sobering:

You can desire spiritual things… and still be disqualified by your heart.

Your inheritance in God is not just about access – it is about alignment.

Even David, in 1 Samuel 24:5, was struck in his heart after a seemingly small action. That sensitivity is the evidence of a living altar.

If nothing checks you within, something is wrong.

And this is where Easter becomes deeply personal. Because the essence of Calvary was not just to forgive sin – but to restore the heart.

To give us a heart that can respond to God again. A heart that can carry His light.

Because you cannot be a bearer of light if your heart is not right.

Beyond the Cross: The Life Resurrection Gave Us

Then came the second message – and it shifted everything.

Rev. Ope took us beyond the cross… into what the resurrection actually secured.

From the beginning, God is just (Genesis 2:16-17). Sin required judgment. A life had to be given. And Jesus took that place.

The cross was ours. Barabbas represented us. But Jesus stepped in.

He was not forced to die – He chose to die.

He fulfilled the legal requirement for our salvation.

But resurrection? That was something else entirely.

  • “Christ is risen… the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20)
  • “Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54-55)

His resurrection was not just proof of power – it was the beginning of a new reality.

Because He rose, we will rise. Because He lives, we live. But even more:

  • “God… raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

This is where many believers miss it. The cross saved you. But the resurrection repositioned you.

Your address is no longer earthly – it is heavenly. You are seated above principalities and powers. You are not fighting for victory – you are operating from victory.

Even in death, Jesus descended and preached (1 Peter 3:18-20, 22), demonstrating that there is no realm where His authority does not reach.

So when the enemy comes with lies – about your past, your limitations, your future – remember: He is guessing. God is already there.

The Call of Resurrection

This is what Resurrection Sunday leaves us with:

  • A heart made right.
  • A life lifted higher.
  • A position secured in Christ.

And a responsibility. To live like it.

✨ Revive Conference 2026: Built to Last ✨

Last week, we began a quiet but important conversation:

What does it mean to be built to last?

This week, the question becomes more precise:

What exactly is being built in you?

Because resurrection is not just an event we celebrate – it is a life we are called to grow into.

It is possible to receive salvation… and never step into formation.

But what lasts is not what was started – it is what was built. And God is not just interested in raising people. He is committed to forming people who can carry what He gives.

So as we journey toward Revive Conference 2026 (June 12-14), begin to pay attention:

  • What is God shaping in your heart?
  • What is He correcting?
  • What is He strengthening?

Because what is built intentionally… is what lasts eternally.
